Adam Jones didn’t like what he saw when he looked back on the tapes of Wales in Japan in the summer of 2025 when he was acting as the national scrum coach. He had blown up to more than 156kgs…

Former Wales and British & Irish Lions prop Adam Jones will participate in the 2026 Cardiff Half Marathon alongside 27,000 runners on Sunday, October 4. After reaching over 156 kilograms while serving as Wales scrum coach in summer 2025, Jones reduced his weight to 124 kilograms to return to his playing weight and address health issues including gout.
Jones adopted dietary changes, cutting out bread, chocolate, and beer, before beginning his training through the Couch to 5K program. He aims to complete the half marathon between two hours 15 minutes and two hours 30 minutes while raising money for St David's Hospice Care and Prostate Cymru.
