He was found dead at a hotel on the eve of his team’s Champions Cup match.

South African rugby player Hyron Andrews has died at the age of 31 at a team hotel in France. The Lions lock was discovered in cardiac arrest inside a locked shower cubicle on Friday on the island of Ile de Re, on the eve of his team's Champions Cup match against La Rochelle. Local authorities opened an inquiry, with public prosecutors identifying accidental death as the leading line of investigation.
The Lions confirmed that Saturday's Champions Cup match against La Rochelle will proceed as scheduled in honor of Andrews. Tributes were led by Lions chief executive Rudolf Straeuli, South African Rugby Union president Mark Alexander, and Sale Sharks director of rugby Alex Sanderson, while European rugby organizers announced a moment of silence across all weekend fixtures.
