Former Scotland and Glasgow Warriors winger Thom Evans stated that rugby has become a safer sport today. Despite the growing speed and power seen in modern matches, Evans indicated that revisions to tackle laws have successfully enhanced overall player safety.
Evans, who was forced into retirement at age 25 following a severe neck injury against Wales in 2010, characterized his career-ending incident as a freak accident. Speaking on behalf of Betway, he reiterated that the injury did not prove the sport itself was inherently unsafe.
