‘We were not going to be beaten’

The Springbok Women secured a 41-29 victory over Italy in the WXV Global Series on Saturday, scoring six tries to four. Co-head coaches Laurian Johannes-Haupt and Franzel September praised the squad's set piece and lineout drives following an earlier loss to Wales. Co-captain Sizophila Solontsi credited the team's determination and connection after fighting back to win when Italy briefly took the lead.

Despite the victory against higher-ranked Italy, the South African team suffered setbacks with flyhalves Libbie Janse van Rensburg and Byrhandré Dolf sustaining injuries. Both players will undergo medical assessments ahead of the final week of competition in Spain.
