Following the victory, the 27-year-old Spaniard shared an emotional message revealing that he had been away from his family for over a month and planned to step away from tennis for a few days to reunite with his wife.
Davidovich Fokina credited his team for aiding his recovery and preparation following a two-month absence due to fitness issues. Although he expressed reluctance to focus on upcoming competitions immediately, he confirmed he will return to action at the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel.
