Carlos Alcaraz's former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero will join Ben Shelton's coaching team for the 2027 season, working alongside Shelton's father and longtime coach, Bryan Shelton.
Ben Shelton has added Juan Carlos Ferrero to his coaching team for the 2027 season, drawing strong reactions from tennis fans online. Shelton confirmed the appointment on social media following initial reports by The Times of London. Ferrero, who previously guided Carlos Alcaraz to six Grand Slam titles over seven years, will work alongside Shelton's father and primary coach, Bryan Shelton.
The announcement came shortly after Alcaraz won the Vienna Open final against Alex de Minaur. Online fan reaction largely centered on the timing of the news and Ferrero sharing coaching duties with another player's father, following his reported disagreements with Alcaraz's father prior to their split in December 2025.
