Andy Roddick has strongly defended Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva against criticism surrounding her on-court emotional outbursts, calling negative narratives about her temperament "horseshit." Speaking on his Served podcast, the former world No. 1 argued that critics get lost in the weeds by claiming her temper makes her an inferior competitor. Instead, Roddick emphasized that Andreeva consistently competes, wins matches, and possesses both the game and mentality to become world No. 1.
Andreeva has experienced a standout 2026 campaign, winning Roland Garros alongside titles in Adelaide and Linz, reaching five finals, and climbing to world No. 3. Roddick praised the 19-year-old's tactical variety and capacity to win even when playing below her best. While Andreeva currently sits third in the Race to the WTA Finals, Roddick expressed confidence that her baseline performance will keep her among the world's elite.
