Anthony Davis revealed the physical strain of playing center for the Los Angeles Lakers, admitting he gained too much weight to handle opposing centers. Speaking on the Numbers on the Board podcast, Davis explained that bulking up to nearly 268 pounds to battle stars like Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid made him feel too heavy to play effectively.
Davis asked the Lakers front office to acquire another center so he could play power forward, but the request was not fulfilled. Shortly after, the Lakers traded Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster deal involving Luka Doncic. Now with the Washington Wizards, Davis anticipates improved performance playing alongside another primary big man.
