Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet has been officially placed on injured reserve after suffering a serious right knee injury against the New England Patriots. Kmet was carted off during Chicago's 30-24 Week 7 victory at Gillette Stadium. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Kmet will miss a minimum of four games and is likely to be sidelined much longer.
Head coach Ben Johnson expressed deep disappointment over the injury, calling Kmet an integral part of the team. Prior to leaving the game, Kmet logged three catches for 28 yards from quarterback Caleb Williams. Tight end Colston Loveland, who recorded seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown, is expected to step up in Kmet's absence.
