The 35-year-old has struggled to make his mark with the Israeli side since his summer switch…

Former Rangers captain James Tavernier has come under fierce criticism from Israeli pundits following Maccabi Tel Aviv's 3-2 defeat to Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Toto Cup final. Former Israel international Gil Vermouth criticized the 35-year-old defender's form, stating he is struggling, lacking agility, and nearing the end of his playing career after being beaten repeatedly by opponent Omri Altman.
Tavernier joined Maccabi Tel Aviv as their highest-paid player after leaving Rangers in the summer, following 565 appearances over an 11-year spell at Ibrox. Despite the mounting criticism regarding his performances, Maccabi manager Kenny Miller publicly defended his player, stating the club remains happy to have him.
