Renault has agreed to sell its historic Viry-Chatillon Formula 1 engine operation to Belgian engineering group Dumarey. The transaction encompasses Alpine Racing SAS along with its employees and operational assets, though completion remains subject to staff consultations and regulatory approval. Dumarey chairman Guido Dumarey confirmed the company plans to preserve the workforce and further expand the facility's motorsport activities.
Renault ceased its works F1 engine programme after 2025, leaving Alpine to transition to customer Mercedes power starting in 2026. Renault noted the sale could eventually allow Viry's engine expertise to serve racing teams again. Meanwhile, Alpine continues to experience race-day performance struggles, which driver Pierre Gasly described as fundamental car issues during Sunday races.
