Smith, a former Korn Ferry Tour winner with 25 PGA Tour starts, admitted initial hesitation about potential criticism before having his amateur status reinstated. Following ongoing debate, the USGA is reportedly re-evaluating its reinstatement guidance for former touring professionals ahead of the 36-hole final at Sand Valley Resort.
