The 76ers received brutal injury news after their preseason opener against the Knicks, creating another major frontcourt problem.

Philadelphia 76ers center Ariel Hukporti suffered a torn right Achilles tendon during Monday's preseason opener against the New York Knicks and will miss the entire 2026-27 season. The 24-year-old sustained the non-contact injury five minutes into his Sixers debut and was scheduled for surgery Tuesday following MRI confirmation.
Hukporti's injury exacerbates major frontcourt depth issues for Philadelphia, with fellow centers Adem Bona, Tacko Fall, and Dominick Barlow also sidelined by injuries. Adding a replacement will be difficult, as the 76ers sit just $1.8 million below their first-apron hard cap and cannot utilize a disabled player exception without making roster cuts or a trade.
