The NBA has directed its authorized sportsbook partners, including DraftKings and FanDuel, to prohibit or restrict specific bet types following recent betting scandals. According to reporting from ESPN, the league is using its contractual agreements to curb vulnerable wagering options while attempting to prevent activity from shifting into illegal markets.
The new directives supplement prior restrictions that barred wagering on two-way or 10-day contract players, fouls, turnovers, and missed free throws. The adjustments come after scandals involving under prop bets, which saw former player Jontay Porter receive a lifetime ban and Terry Rozier face unresolved federal allegations.
