Real Madrid have officially confirmed that defender Raúl Asencio will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a stress fracture in the tibia of his right leg. The club announced the procedure following reports regarding the injury, which is expected to keep the Spanish defender sidelined for up to four months as he recovers.
Asencio played through pain and discomfort during the second half of the 2025-26 season, which ultimately led to the surgical outcome. The setback further strains Madrid's defensive depth, leaving Antonio Rüdiger as the only available center-back for manager José Mourinho ahead of their next match due to Dean Huijsen's suspension and an injury to Ibrahima Konaté.
