Manchester United are suffering a difficult season thus far and fingers are being pointed not just at the team on the pitch but at the club's hierarchy - and one former star has revealed his heartbreaking exit

Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera revealed on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast that a formal letter triggered his exit from the club. After winning the Player of the Year award at the end of his third season, Herrera expected contract extension talks, but officials instead sent a letter merely triggering a 12-month option. Heartbroken by the lack of personal contact, Herrera chose to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Herrera also offered support for current Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, urging the club to grant him time despite a six-game winless run. Additionally, Herrera defended current captain Bruno Fernandes against recent criticism, praising the Portuguese playmaker for leading the squad through difficult periods.
