The New York Giants are signing veteran outside linebacker Dawuane Smoot to their practice squad, according to Tom Pelissero. The 31-year-old worked out for the organization on Monday. His signing provides the Giants with additional depth after the team suffered injuries across their edge rusher unit, including Brian Burns.
Smoot was originally drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Over his career, he spent multiple stints with Jacksonville as well as a season with the Buffalo Bills in 2024. During the 2025 season, Smoot appeared in all 17 games for the Jaguars, registering 23 tackles and two sacks.
