Following a 0-4 start, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans is taking over defensive play-calling duties from coordinator Matt Burke.

Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans announced on Wednesday that he is taking over defensive play-calling duties from defensive coordinator Matt Burke. The change follows Houston's winless 0-4 start to the season, with Ryans stating that the move is aimed at streamlining communication across the unit.
The Texans' defense has regressed significantly, conceding 27.3 points and 343.8 yards per game through four weeks despite returning 10 of 11 starters. Ryans previously called defensive plays during his first two seasons in Houston before Burke took over play-calling duties during Week 4 of the prior season.
