Logan Cooley completed a hat trick with one second remaining in regulation before Mikhail Sergachev scored at 3:27 of overtime to lift the Utah Mammoth to a dramatic 4-3 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena.
Cooley, a Pittsburgh native, erased a late Penguins advantage to force the extra period with the latest game-tying regulation goal surrendered in Pittsburgh franchise history. The Penguins, who had welcomed back Evgeni Malkin, Sam Girard, Egor Chinakhov, and Ben Kindel to the lineup, fell to 5-6-1 while Utah improved to 8-5-0 on the season.
