El Clásico Hangs in Balance as Madrid Challenge Vinícius Ban

Real Madrid are challenging a four-match La Liga suspension handed to forward Vinícius Júnior following a red card received against Villarreal. The Spanish Football Federation's Disciplinary Committee issued the ban, ruling the Brazilian out of multiple domestic fixtures, including the upcoming El Clásico clash against Barcelona on October 25.

After the Spanish Football Federation's Appeals Committee rejected an initial appeal, Real Madrid are preparing to take the case to Spain's Administrative Court of Sport. Manager José Mourinho and teammate Federico Valverde publicly defended Vinícius, while the player criticized the timing of the sanction and called for greater protection from referees.
