After opening the season 0-3, the Knicks finally resembled their championship selves Tuesday night, downing the Detroit Pistons, who had been the last undefeated team in the East, 111-97.

The New York Knicks secured their first victory of the season by defeating the previously unbeaten Detroit Pistons 111-97 on Tuesday night. After starting the campaign 0-3, New York overcame an early 12-point deficit to hand Detroit its first loss of the season.
New York took control by outscoring Detroit 26-12 in the second quarter and extended the lead further in the third quarter behind contributions from Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Karl-Anthony Towns. The shorthanded Pistons were without Jalen Duren and Isaiah Joe as New York controlled the glass and clamped down defensively.
