The Canucks were following their first win in 11 games with their best game of the season. Then, suddenly, they weren’t.

The Vancouver Canucks suffered a late-game collapse, squandering a two-goal lead in the third period to lose 3-2 to the San Jose Sharks. Despite controlling the contest for nearly 47 minutes, Vancouver conceded three goals in just over three minutes, sparked by Will Smith's power-play goal and followed by strikes from Smith and Mason Marchment.
Sportsnet writer Iain MacIntyre noted that despite the defeat, the match was arguably Vancouver's most structured road performance of the season. However, costly penalties, defensive errors by young players, and missed late chances against Sharks goaltender Yaroslav Askarov prevented the Canucks from securing points.
