Key Things to Know
  • Tottenham Hotspur must pay Vangelis Pavlidis's €100 million release clause to sign him from Benfica in January.
  • The proposed mid-season move is a permanent transfer.
  • Spurs sit bottom of the Premier League table after six matches, scoring only three goals under Roberto De Zerbi.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Benfica forward Vangelis Pavlidis as their top target for the January transfer window to help bolster their struggling attack. The Portuguese club will point to the Greek striker's €100 million release clause for any mid-season deal, as manager Marco Silva's side hopes to retain him until at least the end of the season.

Tottenham sit bottom of the Premier League table under manager Roberto De Zerbi, having scored just three goals across their opening six matches. Pavlidis, who is contracted until 2029 and reportedly dreams of a Premier League move, has started the 2026/27 campaign in strong form with 15 goals in 15 appearances.
