Nick Herbig Proving He Can Do More Than Rush the Passer

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Nick Herbig is developing into an all-around defensive contributor beyond his role as an edge pass-rush specialist, according to Mike Boone of Steelers Now. Analysis from Matt Williamson highlights Herbig trailing only Houston Texans edge rusher Will Anderson in pass-rush win rate compared to run-defense impact play rate, validating the contract extension Pittsburgh gave him over the summer.

Herbig noted he is embracing the challenge of taking on different roles, including playing snaps at off-ball linebacker alongside starters T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. He emphasized the defensive unit's focus on stopping the run ahead of their upcoming matchup against Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts.
