PITTSBURGH — Gabriel Rubio hasn’t yet suited up for a regular-season game with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That could soon change…

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio says he is fully prepared to play if called upon following an injury to Derrick Harmon. Harmon was recently placed on injured reserve, creating an opportunity for Rubio to potentially make his NFL regular-season debut after being inactive for the team's first four games.
Rubio, a sixth-round selection from Notre Dame in the 2026 NFL Draft, noted he has embraced the team's "next man up" mentality. He stated that he has focused on practice repetitions, visualising game situations, and learning from veteran defensive tackle Cam Heyward while awaiting the coaching staff's decision.
