Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly announced that star guard Anthony Edwards will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee. The team does not expect the injury to end Edwards' season, though reporter Shams Charania stated he is expected to miss up to two months. Connelly clarified that recent imaging revealed a non-meniscus issue requiring immediate attention to protect the player's long-term health.
Edwards had continued playing despite the discomfort, recently scoring 47 points against Cleveland and averaging 33.3 points over his first four games of the 2026-27 season. While Edwards wanted to keep playing, Connelly stressed prioritizing his recovery, adding that the team is confident in its depth and will provide further return updates following the procedure.
