Older, calmer, but still playing the hits: Mourinho and Madrid primed for clásico

Sid Lowe examines José Mourinho's return to the Camp Nou as Real Madrid manager for Sunday's Clásico against Barcelona. Having arrived three months ago following two trophyless years for Madrid, Mourinho is tasked with stopping a Barcelona side that started the domestic campaign with 11 straight wins. Real Madrid head into the match trailing their rivals by six points.

Lowe notes that while Mourinho claimed to be calmer upon returning, his trademark controversies have quickly resurfaced alongside tactical adjustments. Real Madrid will be without Vinícius Júnior due to a four-game suspension, while Barcelona manager Hansi Flick rotated key players in Europe to prioritize this fixture despite defensive injury concerns.
