Maple Leafs News & Rumours: Nylander, Lettieri, Sundin, Armstrong & Mahovlich

William Nylander recorded a five-point night with two goals and three assists in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 6-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. The performance marked Nylander's 700th career NHL point in 756 games, making him the seventh-fastest Sweden-born player to reach the milestone. His two goals also brought his career total to 297, moving him past George Armstrong and Frank Mahovlich into seventh place on Toronto's all-time goal-scoring leaderboard.

The Old Prof also highlights veteran forward Vinni Lettieri's recent success with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, where he posted three assists in a 5-2 win over Hamilton. The writer notes that while the reshaped Maple Leafs hold a 3-2-1 record under general manager John Chayka and coach Jim Hiller, organizational depth from players like Lettieri provides valuable insurance over the long NHL season.
