The latest rugby news making the headlines as the Wales selectors sit down to pick the autumn squad…

Taulupe Faletau staked his claim for a Wales recall ahead of Steve Tandy naming his Nations Championship squad following an impressive return for Cardiff. Making his first appearance since March, the 35-year-old number eight delivered an influential 56-minute display despite Cardiff suffering a 28-12 defeat against Northampton Saints in the Investec Champions Cup.
Northampton secured the victory with tries from James Pater, Toby Thame, George Hendy, and Fraser Dingwall, while Harri Millard and Mason Grady scored for Cardiff. Elsewhere, Scarlets director of rugby Nigel Davies praised his side's returning forwards after their 47-14 Challenge Cup win over Newcastle Red Bulls ahead of their tour to South Africa.
