In his first legitimate on-field action since getting traded by the Minnesota Vikings, J.J. McCarthy almost led the New York Giants to a comeback win.

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy nearly engineered a 24-point fourth-quarter comeback for the New York Giants against the New Orleans Saints. After replacing starter Jameis Winston, McCarthy threw for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while adding 26 rushing yards. Despite the late surge, the Giants fell short when McCarthy threw an incomplete pass on fourth down in the final seconds.
The Viking Age argues that McCarthy's strong performance will fuel debate among Minnesota fans over the team's decision to trade him away. Writer Adam Patrick suggests that McCarthy's display could lead to him earning the starting job over Winston for New York's upcoming matchup against the Houston Texans.
