The Story in 60 Seconds

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported on the 32 Thoughts podcast that the Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, Utah Mammoth, and Carolina Hurricanes are leading the charge in trade talks for Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. The 33-year-old netminder remains in a standoff with the Jets after being suspended for failing to report to training camp following a public trade request.

According to Friedman, Buffalo remains a strong candidate because the Sabres desire Hellebuyck and he is willing to join them. While New York is exploring options following a season-ending injury to Igor Shesterkin, an eventual deal involving Hellebuyck remains uncertain as the Jets face an impending deadline regarding his suspension.
