An ESPN analyst says the Detroit Red Wings’ biggest storyline could soon be resolved. On the Frankly Hockey podcast, recorded Friday, Oct. 16, John Buccigross said he has information pointing to a blockbuster deal.
ESPN analyst John Buccigross reported on the Frankly Hockey podcast that a trade involving Detroit Red Wings star Dylan Larkin could happen within seven to ten days. Larkin requested a trade publicly on June 4, and insider Elliotte Friedman noted that Detroit may be growing concerned about letting the standoff drag on. Neither the team nor Larkin's representatives have confirmed any imminent deal.
Interim general manager Shawn Horcoff is reportedly seeking a comparable player in return rather than draft picks or prospects, aiming to avoid a rebuild. The Minnesota Wild are reportedly viewed as frontrunners for a permanent trade, while the Montreal Canadiens have also emerged as potential suitors. Larkin remains under contract through the 2030-31 season with an average annual value of $8.7 million.
