Tournament host Tiger Woods was not included in the initial player field announced on Monday for the Hero World Challenge in Albany, Bahamas. However, the 15-time major champion could still potentially join the tournament using one of three remaining tournament exemption spots. Woods has not played in an official event since missing the cut at The Open in July 2024.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and defending champion Hideki Matsuyama headline the 17 players confirmed so far for the 20-man event. Seven of the world's top 10 players are committed to participate, including Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick, with the remaining participants to be confirmed later.
