GOLF Top 100 Teacher Brian Mogg explains two reasons he sees golfers early extend — and shares how to fix them.

Golf instructor Brian Mogg explains that early extension is primarily caused by a steep downswing and poor weight transfer. Rather than being an isolated fault, early extension typically occurs when a player's hips thrust toward the ball as a compensation for an improper club path or poor body positioning during the swing.
To resolve the issue, Mogg advises golfers to focus on completing their backswing turn to ensure proper club depth and shifting pressure effectively to the lead foot. He highlights professional golfer Rory McIlroy as a model for using proper lower-body rotation and weight transition to create swing space.
