Mercedes has had a dominant start to the new regulations in 2026, but while its driver Kimi Antonelli could technically seal his Formula 1 championship win this coming Sunday at the United States Grand Prix, Mercedes as a team will…

Mercedes can mathematically seal the 2026 Formula 1 constructors' championship as early as the Mexican Grand Prix. Although driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli could secure his title at the United States Grand Prix, Mercedes cannot wrap up the team title in Austin. With a 134-point advantage over Ferrari and 258 points remaining across the final six rounds, Mercedes cannot build an insurmountable lead in Texas even with a one-two finish.
To secure the title in Mexico, Mercedes must expand its lead to at least 172 points by outscoring Ferrari by 38 points over the next two rounds. A more realistic scenario sees the Brackley squad securing the crown at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on November 8. Winning a ninth constructors' championship would move Mercedes level with Williams in third on the all-time list.
