The New York Islanders announced recovery timelines for forwards Calum Ritchie and Matias Maccelli following lower-body injuries suffered against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ritchie will miss four to six weeks, while Maccelli is sidelined for two to four weeks after both exited in the first period of Saturday's victory.
In response, the Islanders recalled Mitchell Chaffee on an emergency basis and placed defenseman Alexander Romanov on injured reserve. The injuries further strain New York's offense, which has already played without center Mathew Barzal to begin the 2026-27 season.
