James Maddison made his first start in 18 months and scored a spectacular opening goal to guide Tottenham Hotspur to a 3-1 Premier League victory over Coventry City. The win marked manager Roberto De Zerbi's first league victory of the season, lifting Spurs off the bottom of the table. Jack Rudoni equalized for Coventry before Omar Marmoush netted his first Spurs goal and Ben Davies sealed the win in stoppage time.
Maddison, who had been sidelined by an ACL injury and a fractured shoulder, played 69 minutes before being replaced by Conor Gallagher. The match also saw Dejan Kulusevski make his return from a 526-day knee injury layoff as an 87th-minute substitute for Mohammed Kudus, providing an additional boost ahead of Tottenham's upcoming fixture against Chelsea.
