Connor Barron hasn't yet played a minute for Middlesbrough since joining from Rangers on loan
Middlesbrough manager Kim Hellberg has praised midfielder Connor Barron for his exceptional attitude despite his lack of playing time since arriving on a season-long loan from Rangers. Barron has yet to feature in a competitive match for Boro, remaining an unused substitute in three straight Championship matches after missing out entirely initially. Hellberg emphasized that the 24-year-old's absence from the pitch comes down to competition and bad luck rather than poor performance.
Hellberg's comments follow criticism from former Rangers manager Barry Ferguson, who argued that Rangers should consider recalling Barron if his lack of minutes persists. Hellberg pointed to Barron scoring the winner in a 1-0 friendly victory against Newcastle United during the international break as proof of his readiness, urging both Barron and teammate Leo Castledine to stay patient and seize their opportunities when called upon.
