Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta was named ALCS MVP after helping lead his team to the World Series with a 7-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 6 at Tropicana Field. The right-hander pitched 5 1/3 innings in Monday's series clincher, finishing the ALCS with only one run allowed across 12 innings in three appearances.
Peralta's postseason success comes after a difficult stint with the New York Mets, where he posted a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts before being traded to Tampa Bay at the deadline for three prospects. Overall, Peralta has recorded a 1.08 ERA in the playoffs, and the Rays are scheduled to face his former team, the Milwaukee Brewers, in the World Series.
