Iker Lecuona will replace Fermin Aldeguer at Phillip Island as the Spaniard recovers from right-hand surgery.

Iker Lecuona will replace injured rookie Fermin Aldeguer at Phillip Island for the Australian Grand Prix. Aldeguer is currently recovering from surgery on a fractured first metacarpal bone in his right hand suffered at Mandalika. This marks Lecuona's third MotoGP appearance of the 2026 season following earlier substitute stints for Gresini.
Aldeguer is targeting a return at the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang in two weeks after missing his fifth race of the year. The opportunity allows Lecuona to race a MotoGP bike at Phillip Island for the first time following the conclusion of his 2026 WorldSBK campaign.
