The inaugural Cymru WU23 camp took place earlier this month to help bridge the gap between the intermediate teams and the senior squad.

The Football Association of Wales launched its inaugural Cymru WU23 camp in October 2026 to help bridge the development gap between intermediate teams and the senior squad. Cymru WU19 head coach Nia Davies led a 19-player group during a mini-camp that featured a behind-closed-doors friendly against WSL 2 side Watford.
Assisted by National Lottery funding, the team trained alongside Rhian Wilkinson's senior squad ahead of their World Cup Play-Off match against Albania. FAW Chief Football Officer Dr. David Adams highlighted that the initiative aims to graduate two players per year into the senior national team while building toward long-term goals like the 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
