The Story in 60 Seconds

Sunderland are reportedly preparing to revive their pursuit of Sporting Club de Portugal winger Geny Catamo during the upcoming January transfer window. The Premier League club failed with a deadline-day bid in the summer, but Portuguese outlet A Bola reports that the Black Cats will not give up on signing the 25-year-old Mozambican international.

Sunderland previously offered a permanent transfer package worth €30m plus €10m in performance-based add-ons, alongside an offer to quintuple Catamo's wages. However, Sporting continue to demand a guaranteed €40m fixed fee as Catamo remains under contract until 2029.
