McLaren has revealed that its final development upgrades for the 2026 Formula 1 season will double as tests for its 2027 car concepts. Team principal Andrea Stella explained that the updates are scheduled across races in Austin, Mexico City, and Sao Paulo to evaluate components across varied track layouts.
The late-season package aims to help drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri compete for podiums while defending McLaren's third place in the constructors' standings against Red Bull. Stella noted that with aerodynamic development maturing, track testing these fundamental concepts will prove vital for next year's design.
