Former Leeds Rhinos hooker Corey Johnson has signed a new one-year contract extension to stay with Championship side Sheffield Eagles for the 2027 season. The 25-year-old hooker made 28 appearances for the South Yorkshire club during the 2026 campaign, having initially joined Sheffield ahead of the 2025 season after departing Leeds at the conclusion of 2024.
Johnson previously made 29 appearances for Leeds Rhinos between 2019 and 2024 under head coach Rohan Smith. His new deal makes him one of 17 players under contract at Sheffield for 2027, joining fellow former Super League playmakers Jordan Lilley and Jordan Abdull, while the club actively searches for a new head coach following the exit of Craig Lingard.
