Mercedes have started to regress with their new upgrade package, and it has raised concerns for Jolyon Palmer as their rivals start to catch them.…

Former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer believes Mercedes faces a major concern for their 2027 championship hopes following recent car development struggles. Speaking on the F1 Nation podcast, Palmer noted that rivals Red Bull and Ferrari have closed the gap or surpassed Mercedes after the Silver Arrows introduced an upgrade package in Malaysia that made the W17 slower.
Palmer revealed that conversations with Mercedes personnel in Singapore highlighted fundamental discrepancies between simulation data and track performance, particularly regarding aerodynamic balance. He emphasized that Mercedes must focus on understanding their car development process at Brackley rather than chasing race wins for the remainder of the season.
