Scottish Premiership clubs open to major TV deal tweak - but £30m deal must increase…
Scottish Premiership clubs are open to permitting broadcasters to televise more live matches beyond the current limit, but they demand a substantial increase over the existing £30 million annual agreement. The SPFL has officially issued an Invitation to Tender for live UK broadcast rights starting from the 2029-30 season. Any alteration to the arrangement will require approval from an 11-1 vote among the top 12 clubs.
The current five-year contract with Sky Sports covers up to 60 games per season and runs through the 2028-29 campaign, alongside 22 games shown by Premier Sports. Because the league boasts Europe's highest per-capita attendance, some clubs remain hesitant to risk matchday revenue unless a significantly higher financial offer is made.
