Duncan Ferguson has insisted that Everton should never have allowed striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to leave the club. Speaking on The Overlap Daily, the former Everton player and coach argued the club should have met Calvert-Lewin's contract demands to retain him. Calvert-Lewin ended his nine-year stay on Merseyside when his contract expired in summer 2025, subsequently joining Leeds United on a free transfer.
Calvert-Lewin has since scored five goals in all competitions for Leeds, including an equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United. Ferguson, who was recently appointed manager of Glentoran, highlighted Everton's current striker shortage under David Moyes, where Thierno Barry remains the primary recognized senior center-forward following Beto's departure.
