Newcastle United have confirmed that the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland at St James' Park has been rescheduled to Sunday, December 6, 2026, kicking off at 2pm. Additionally, visiting Sunderland supporters will be required to use official club coaches for bubble travel to and from Wearside following safety recommendations from Northumbria Police and the stadium's Safety Advisory Group.

Sunderland supporters will receive an allocation of 2,200 tickets situated in Level 7 of the Leazes End. The travel restrictions follow incidents from last season, where disruptions occurred when away fans walked to the stadium from the train station. Newcastle stated the decision does not yet impact the reverse fixture in May 2027.
