The Sacramento Kings' preparations for the regular season have been a bit of a mess, some of which was beyond their control.

Ian Goodwillie argues that the Sacramento Kings endured a disastrous preseason ahead of the 2026-2027 NBA campaign due to mounting injuries, roster cuts, and winless exhibitions. The Kings were the only team across the entire NBA to finish the preseason without a single victory, going 0-5. Goodwillie suggests that these struggles and setbacks have set a severely negative tone ahead of the upcoming regular season.
Injuries have heavily impacted the squad, with Ben Simmons ruled out for the season, while Maxime Raynaud, Dylan Cardwell, and Malik Monk are also sidelined. Sacramento has also waived several players, including Tristen Newton, Elfrid Payton, and Adam Flagler. Goodwillie notes that how the front office utilizes its limited open roster spots will be critical to salvaging any potential success this season.
