Scott Coker is eyeing rule changes before his new promotion’s debut.
Scott Coker has formally asked the California State Athletic Commission to consider MMA rule adjustments ahead of the launch of his new promotion, Ki MMA. The former Bellator and Strikeforce leader revealed that the organization requested regulators discuss the proposed modifications at their upcoming stakeholders meeting on December 1.
Coker's proposal seeks to integrate elements of global MMA rules into the existing Unified Rules of MMA. However, the requested changes explicitly exclude soccer kicks, stomps, and linear knee strikes as Ki MMA prepares for its targeted debut in 2027.
